A new era
In 2011, the foundation accepted a $1 million gift from Michael J. Birck, founder of Tellabs, Inc., and his wife, Katherine. This donation is one of the largest single-gift contributions ever received by the foundation.
“We’re proud to be able to help Adventist Hinsdale Hospital usher in a new era of transforming care,” Michael Birck said. “The hospital is a valuable resource that will serve our community’s needs for years to come.”
Michael Birck currently serves as chairman of Naperville-based Tellabs, Inc. He is a highly recognized leader in the telecommunications industry who has received a number of honors. Katherine Birck is the former head of nursing at Women’s Health Care of Hinsdale, and serves on the board of King-Bruwaert House retirement home in Burr Ridge.
The Bircks support many educational, health, and charitable organizations through their volunteerism and philanthropic giving.
