Applications & Requirements
Students/applicants should apply to the Hinsdale Residency through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) via U.S. medical schools and the ECFMG. PAPER APPLICATIONS AND/OR EMAIL APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Requirements for U.S. Applications
- Dean's letter
- Transcripts
- Three (3) current reference letters
- USMLE/COMLEX scores
- ACLS/CPR certification prior to starting program
- Personal statement
Requirements for IMG Applications
- Graduation from medical school within two (2) years of application. If longer than two years, consideration will be given to those applicants who have been in active practice or residency in the past two years in an ACGME approved program If you have no formal program of medical education or cannot demonstrate active practice of medicine within the two years immediately preceding application for Illinois license, you must demonstrate professional capacity. Please see The Medical Practice Act of 1987 Section 9 (B) (4) and Section 1285.110b) 3) of the Rule of the Illinois Dept. of Professional And Financial Regulation. - All USMLE/COMLEX tests and scores must be reported and competitive. Passing on the first attempt is favorable. All components associated with USMLE-2 must be passed prior to start of Residency.
- ECFMG certification must be current and valid.
- We do not sponsor visas. You must be a U.S. citizen, current green card/permanent visa holder (nothing pending) OR currently be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Illinois.

Interviews
Upon acceptance of your ERAS application, the Residency Coordinator will contact you to arrange an interview. You will meet with the Program Director and several faculty members. Residents will show you our facilities, take you to lunch, and address your questions.
Interviews will take a full day. One night’s lodging is provided if office is contacted prior to appointment. Please let us know of any special interests you may have for your visit. We will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability.
