The Family Medicine Residency Program

Residents at Hinsdale Hospital enjoy the benefits of a single residency program. Residents experience 1-to-1 teaching and mentoring from all the hospital’s faculty and specialists, and are first-in-line for procedures and surgeries such as laceration repairs, intubations, central lines, cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and much more. 

Hinsdale Family Medicine Center

Our program’s unique and beautiful outpatient office- the Hinsdale Family Medicine Center- is nestled across the street from Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. The building was originally a Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1975, the church was renovated to function as the original office site for the residency program.

The office consists of 16 patient rooms, a newly renovated precepting room, two procedure rooms for everything from mole excisions to LEEPs, and a room for our D.O. residents to perform osteopathic manipulative treatments. The building also houses administration offices in the basement and an ample conference room in the loft for academic conferences. Our office functions as a model office and provides ample space for teaching and learning. 

Electronic Medical Records

All residents receive personal laptop computers for use during their training.
EMR is used both in our hospital as well as in our outpatient office. 

ACGME/AOA Dual Accreditation

Our program is fully dual-accredited for AOA and ACGME. The AOA Family Medicine Program was granted accreditation in July 2008 and has an affiliation agreement with Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, for post-graduate medical education. We encourage DO students to apply using the American Osteopathic Association/Resident match program to make sure that they will be eligible for certification.

Time Off
Vacation: 20 paid days off per year

Stipends
First year: 2 days, $300 stipend for conference fee, software, CDs
Second year: 3 days, $300 stipend for conference fee, software, CDs
Third year: 5 days, $1,200 stipend for national conference fees 

Meal Stipend
