Hinsdale – Based on recommendations from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital are restricting visitors due to concerns about spreading the flu.
“We are putting these changes into effect during this increase in influenza cases in order to keep our staff, patients and community safe,” Regional Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer Shawn Tyrrell said.
Effective immediately, the hospitals of Adventist Midwest Health have put the following guidelines in place:
• Everyone under the age of 18 will be restricted from visiting patients in the hospitals.
• Anyone with active or recent respiratory symptoms of influenza will be restricted from visiting patients.
• Visitors will be limited to two per patient at any one time.
“We appreciate the understanding of our patients and their families while we implement this change,” Tyrrell said. “Once this increase in influenza has passed, we will reinstitute our family centered visiting policies.”
