Free discussion on springtime sports and food allergies
Glendale Heights – Springtime 2013 was one of the longest allergy seasons we have ever seen. Allergist and Immunologist Dr. Greg Sharon will discuss “Your Allergies and the Environment” during a free presentation on Feb. 18 at the Glenside Public Library.

Dr. Sharon will address what might be behind the increase in the incidence of allergies in children, adolescents and adults from 7-8 p.m. at the Glenside Public Library, 25 E. Fullerton Ave. in Glendale Heights. To register, please call (630) 260-1550.

“We have seen a 400 percent increase in allergies,” Dr. Sharon said. “What was only a nuisance has become a threat to life and limb today. Life-threatening allergies are present in one in 25 school children.”

Dr. Sharon will also discuss ways people can take care of themselves to better manage their allergies or to avoid developing them over time.

A graduate of the Rush Medical College of Rush University, Dr. Sharon is a board-certified allergist-immunologist trained in treating adult and pediatric patients.

In practice for 30 years, Dr. Sharon is the vice president of the medical staff at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital and an associate clinical professor of medicine at Midwestern University Medical School in Lisle.
