Care for Adolescents
The transition from childhood to adulthood is rarely easy, but can be especially troubling for some adolescents. Our Behavioral Health Services offer compassionate support to help adolescents navigate through this difficult phase of their emotional, behavioral and social development with our Therapeutic Day Schools. Adventist GlenOaks Hospital offers care for adolescents at our outpatient center in Westmont. Teens here benefit from:
- Individual and group therapy
- Expressive therapies, including music, art and recreational therapy
- A dedicated team who are sensitive to the unique stage and challenges of adolescence
- Involvement of family members in the healing process, as appropriate
- Educational support, so they don’t fall behind in school.
Through the Adventist Midwest Health System, we offer innovative resources for our school-age patients, including:
Adventist Therapeutic Day School: With several locations, the Therapeutic Day School helps students stay on track with their education, in spite of emotional disorders, health issues or secondary learning disabilities.
Tutoring Program – “The Learning Center”: Tutoring is available at the cost of $45 per hour. The tutoring program uses teachers from the Adventist Therapeutic Day School to assist in all academic subjects. Tutoring also offers support through music, art and recreational therapies. This program is open to any public or private school student, and does not require students to have special needs or be in a special education program. For tutoring appointments, contact the Therapeutic Day School.
Camp Go: Camp Go offers two therapeutic recreational summer camps operated by the Adventist Therapeutic Day School. Adolescents struggling with substance abuse or other addictive behaviors also may be referred to the Adventist New Day Center for Addictions for specialized care.
