Thirteen awards for regional communications team

Hinsdale – Adventist Midwest Health’s Regional Communications team has won 13 Pinnacle Awards from the Illinois Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (ISHMPR).

The awards were announced Oct. 24 during the organization’s 2013 annual conference. ISHMPR, an affiliate of the Illinois Hospital Association, is the state’s largest organization dedicated to the advancement of healthcare marketing and communications professionals.

More than 300 people from hospitals throughout the region attended this year’s ISHMPR Conference, held in Lake Geneva, Wis. Awards were given out in 27 project categories, and a complete list of award winners will be posted at www.ishmpr.org.

The regional communications team, consisting of Regional Director Julie Busch of Yorkville, Katie Klinger of Hoffman Estates, and Chris LaFortune of Roselle, is based in Hinsdale.

“Our communications team plays an important role in fulfilling our overall mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ,” said David L. Crane, president and chief executive officer, Adventist Midwest Health. “They tell the story of our hospitals to our patients and our home communities, and also work hard to ensure our employees remain informed on the latest news within our organization.”

The team was recognized with the following awards:

Award of Excellence, Public Relations Project – Town Halls

The award recognized the work done by the communications team in planning, promoting, branding and supporting quarterly hospital Town Hall meetings, held internally to inform staff about news within the organization.

Award of Excellence, Employee Communications – Employee Facebook Group

Awarded for the rollout of the Adventist Midwest Health Employee Facebook group, open only to hospital employees and used to communicate news and daily happenings at the hospitals.

Award of Excellence, Video Production – AMH Today

Produced for new employee orientation, the video features a team of Human Resources employees giving “news reports” about employee benefits.

Award of Excellence, Video Production – Diane Leonard: Nursing Dreams Fulfilled

Showcasing the outstanding care available at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, this video features Diane Leonard, the director of Women’s and Children’s Services, and the journey she undertook to become a nurse.

Award of Excellence, Video Production – Hourly Rounding

Created to demonstrate hourly rounding for all nurses, this video featured hospital nurses as well as the chief nursing officers from all four Adventist Midwest Health Hospitals.

Award of Excellence, Video Production – Kathryn Brackett – 100 Years Young

Featuring the story of Kathryn Brackett, a volunteer who turned 100 last year, this video earned a perfect score of 60 from the judges.

Awards of Merit, Website Design/Development

The Communications team won two awards for Website Design and Development. The first was for the upgrade and improvement project for the Arc, the internal Intranet site used by company employees. The second award was for the External Responsive Design project, which redesigned the keepingyouwell.com web site to be mobile and tablet friendly.

Award of Merit, Writing Project – CREATION Health, Lake Union Herald

In July, Adventist Midwest Health is featured as the cover story of the Lake Union Herald, a magazine for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The communications team wrote eight stories for this issue, featuring people and events at all four hospitals.

Award of Merit, Video Production – You Have My Permission

Working with Risk Management staff, the Communications team wrote, directed and produced the “You Have My Permission” video, designed to promote a culture of safety at the hospitals.

Award of Merit, Video Production – C-Suite Corner: Bruce C. Christian

Part of a larger series of videos profiling the Adventist Midwest Health hospital CEOs, this production featured Adventist GlenOaks Hospital CEO Bruce C. Christian riding his motorcycle and encouraging staff to enjoy their earned vacation time.

Award of Merit, Video Production – New Employee Orientation

This video highlights the services available at each of the region’s hospitals, Adventist Health Partners and the corporate office in Bolingbrook. It was designed to introduce new employees to each of the company’s hospital campuses.

Award of Merit, Video Production –Service Awards

Designed to recognize many of the 400 employees honored at the annual service awards banquet, the music video was the featured entertainment during the banquet’s festivities.

Honorable Mention, Video Production –The Changing Face of Healthcare

This production featured two doctors who described the changes brought on by health care reform.
