Hospital foundation welcomes new executive director

Glendale Heights – GlenOaks Hospital Foundation is pleased to welcome Michelle Whetstone of Aurora as its new executive director.

“Serving an organization with such a compelling mission focused on helping the community is a great honor and privilege for me,” Whetstone said.

The foundation furthers the mission of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital through philanthropy. Whetstone is thankful that the foundation’s former executive director, Karen Lawler, will now serve as the director of the hospital’s newly formed community advisory board.

“It is a unique and amazing opportunity to work with Karen as we transition roles,” Whetstone said. “She has and will continue to be a major asset to GlenOaks as she has dedicated her career to this community which provides me with great perspective on the past in order to strategically plan for the future.”

Whetstone brings a great deal of experience to the job. She is the former senior foundation business and grants administrator for Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora. She has also served as director of development at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Hope Children’s Hospital and as development officer at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, as well as the American Cancer Society. In addition, Whetstone has served as director on a number of nonprofit boards and held elected office as an Aurora Township trustee. She is a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and Association of Fundraising Professionals.

“We welcome Michelle to our team and lend her our support as she becomes acquainted with the organization,” said Brinsley Lewis, chief executive officer of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital.
