Hinsdale – Adventist St. Thomas Hospice
invites shoppers to stop at Whole Foods Market May 14 to help support one of its long-standing support programs. Tommy’s Kids Camp
will be the beneficiary of Whole Foods Market’s Community Support Day May 14. From 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., the store at 201 W. 63rd St. in Willowbrook will donate 5 percent of its net sales to the Adventist St. Thomas Hospice children’s bereavement program.
Hospice representatives will also be on hand throughout the day to provide information about the annual camp.
Adventist St. Thomas Hospice offers support throughout the year for grieving children through Tommy’s Kids Support Group. Tommy’s Kids Summer Camp, designed for children ages 5 to 12, allows the hospice to serve an even larger population of kids.
“Our communities are very supportive of what we provide through Tommy’s Kids Camp, and we hope everyone will join us May 14,” said Heather Kochen, bereavement coordinator with Adventist St. Thomas Hospice. “This is a phenomenal fundraising opportunity for us.”
Four times a year, Whole Foods Market runs a Community Support Day to support local organizations, said Amy Caruso, marketing and community relations specialist with Whole Foods Market. The company is proud of its community involvement and the relationships it continues to build.
“Whole Foods Market Willowbrook is honored to support this bereavement camp through our donation program,” Caruso said. “We hope that this 5 Percent Day brings awareness to the bereaved youth in our community and generate funds to help these kids get through a very difficult time in their lives.”
This year’s camp will take place daily from June 16 to June 20 at Arabian Knights Farms, 6526 Clarendon Hills Road, Willowbrook. The cost is $50 per child, with some scholarships available.
Enrollment is limited to 30 children to keep the ratio of campers to counselors at one-to-one. Adventist St. Thomas Hospice staff and specially-trained adult volunteers staff the camp. For more information about registering a child, contact Heather Kochen at (630) 856-6985.
