Bolingbrook – Hundreds of babies born at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital celebrated the hospital’s first birthday at a family-oriented celebration. The families of more than 300 babies born at the hospital during its first year in operation attended the party, held Sunday, Feb. 15, at Bolingbrook Golf Club.
Activities included a diaper derby, face and body painting and a “Happy Birthday” singalong. More than 700 babies were born at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in 2008, surpassing projections. The 138-bed hospital opened Jan. 14, 2008.
“What better way to commemorate our first birthday than to gather with the families of babies who will celebrate their first birthday in 2009,” said Rick Mace, chief executive officer of Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. “This is a milestone not only for our hospital, but for so many families in our community whose babies were born right here in Bolingbrook.”
Added Dr. Anthony Bell, a neonatologist: “What a great feeling to see all these little ones and know that these families chose our hospital to deliver their babies.”
