Highly trained specialists in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center develop personal and individualized management plans to guide expectant mothers through their high-risk pregnancy. The Center’s multidisciplinary team of specialists provides a support network to help families make important healthcare decisions. 
More than 25 percent of the 3 million women who give birth each year are considered high risk. High-risk pregnancies must be followed closely to prevent, detect or manage any problems, and the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center is focused on managing women with high-risk pregnancies who have any of the following complications:
- Chronic medical problems
- Complications in a prior pregnancy
- Current pregnancy complications
- Need for specialized prenatal diagnostic/antepartum testing
Specialized services offered at the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center include:
- Pre-conception counseling
- High-risk pregnancy consultations and co-management of complicated pregnancies (including multiples)
- Genetic counseling
- First trimester screening and sequential screening for Down Syndrome
- Amniocentesis
- Antepartum testing (including non-stress tests, biophysical profile and Doppler evaluation of fetal circulation)
- High-resolution ultrasound
- Routine obstetric ultrasound
- Diabetic education
