Equipment

• Our state-of-the-art 64-slice CT Scanner provides a revolutionary look at the heart. It can perform scans in as little as five seconds and scans the entire body in as little as 20 seconds. Sharp, 3-dimensional images enable radiologists to look at moving structures such as the heart and blood vessels to identify potential blockages. The scanner also records coronary calcium scores, a predictor of coronary artery disease. 
• Echocardiograms and TEE’s are performed digitally and with on-line results available to view through our physician portal.
• Online EKG’s are directly transmitted from our EKG carts (including EKG’s done on the bedside monitors in ICU) to our electronic medical records.
• Drug-eluding stents.  Stents are small metal mesh tubes that are used to hold a blood vessel open. New stents are drug-coated and help limit the growth of tissue within the arteries, which can restrict blood flow. These have significantly reduced the need for repeat procedures .  
• Tilt Tables are available for testing and diagnosis of symptoms such as dizziness and fainting.
• Holter and event monitoring equipment is available for diagnosis of arrythmia and other abnormal heart rhythms.

Tests

• Cardiac Catheterization: a diagnostic test that determines blockages and narrowing in the coronary arteries.
• Coronary and Peripheral CT Angiography: performed with our 64-slice CT scanner
• Echocardiograms:  An echocardiogram uses sound waves to look at your heart. Images are displayed on a screen that shows the size of your heart, and its muscle and valve activity. This test generally takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
• Stress Testing:  A stress test shows how well your heart is performing during physical exercise.  As you walk on a treadmill, your EKG and blood pressure are closely monitored by a cardiologist and a technician.  The speed and slope of the treadmill are gradually intensified to increase your heart's work.
• Nuclear Stress test:  During this test the patient receives an injection of a special radioisotope that shows up on an X-ray and highlights the flow of blood during a rested and working state. 
• Pharmacological Stress Test: A drug stress test is for people who cannot exercise on a treadmill.  Medication is used to simulate the effects of exercise for test purposes.
