How to Volunteer

Starting the process of becoming a volunteer at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital is easy!   Contact Sher Fox in Volunteer Services to learn how.

To ensure the safety of our patients and visitors, each applicant is carefully screened. The process includes a reference check, personal interview and criminal background check. After a required tuberculosis test, new volunteers will undergo a three to four-hour orientation session and on-the-job training.

College Student and Adult Volunteers

College students applying for summer positions should submit their applications by April 1. Orientation sessions are scheduled throughout the year.

Junior Volunteers

For volunteers age 14 to 18 who are about to enter or are still in high school. Junior Volunteer candidates should submit their applications at the latest by November 1 to begin working in January, or by April 1 to begin working in June, or July 1 to begin working in September. Orientation sessions for junior volunteers are conducted in January, June and September.

Junior volunteer spots fill up quickly, so there is no guarantee that a spot will be available.  Submitting your application early is to your advantage.

Often there are more Junior Volunteer applicants than we can process for a single orientation session. For the most up-to-date information, call Junior Volunteer Coordinator Christine De Maria at 630-856-4001.
