La Grange, IL – Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Murphy as vice president/chief nursing officer. The chief nursing officer oversees all clinical staff at the 223-bed hospital.
“A nurse at heart, Mary exhibits acute business acumen and is committed to our mission of providing whole-person care and promoting wellness,” said Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital CEO Rick Wright. “She comes to this position with a wealth of experience.”
Murphy, 49, of Westchester, formerly was chief nursing officer and emergency room director at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights. She has 25 years of experience in the nursing field, including experience as a flight nurse. Murphy joined Adventist Midwest Health in 2001 as director of emergency services at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital. She was promoted to vice president/chief nursing officer in 2004, overseeing all clinical operations and many key initiatives.
Murphy said her proudest moments at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital include implementing a modern electronic medical records system and developing the $10 million no-wait emergency department that opened in June 2007.
Murphy holds a master’s degree in nursing from Loyola University. In additional to her Illinois nursing license, Murphy is certified in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and as a critical care registered nurse. She is regional president of the Illinois Organization Nurse Leaders (2006) and is a member of the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and National Flight Nurses Association.
Her appointment was effective March 10.
