Glendale Heights – The GlenOaks Hospital
Foundation has announced the appointment of four new board members. Through
fund raising and financial support, the foundation supports Adventist GlenOaks Hospital’s
mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
The new board members are Dr. Tariq Butt, Michael Hooper,
Richard Roehr and Dr. Marie Schlund.
“Our four new members are from varied cultures and
backgrounds, and they bring a wide range of experience to our board,” said
Michelle Kallevik, executive director of the GlenOaks Hospital Foundation. “We
welcome their commitment and passion to serve. And we look forward to their
contributions to the richness of our organization as we seek to meet the health
needs of our diverse community.”
Dr. Tariq Butt, of Chicago, is a physician and medical
officer for Access Community Health Network. The network serves residents of
the West Side of Chicago regardless of their ability to pay. He has served on
the Chicago Board of Education and on the Illinois Association of School
Boards. Butt is a founding member of the Asian-American Institute and he helped
form the Asian-American Advisory Council to Cook County. He is married to Dr.
Rizwana Mughal.
Michael Hooper, of Bloomingdale, is the general manager of
the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale. He has worked in various
management positions for hotels and resorts in the Bahamas, and for hotels in
London. He is certified in hotel administration. Hooper serves as a mentor to
high school youth and is a board member of the DuPage Convention and Visitors
Bureau. He and his wife, Julie, have 16-year-old son, Daren.
Richard Roehr, of Oswego, is the assistant vice president of
administrative services at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, where he has worked for
seven years. He has served as president and as past-president of the Health
Care Engineers Society of Northern Illinois. He and his wife, Dena, have two
daughters, ages seven and nine.
Dr. Marie Schlund, of Itasca, is podiatrist who treats
patients at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital. She is president of Itasca Foot and
Ankle Ltd. She has participated in numerous volunteer activities, including
staffing medical tents at marathons and other races, providing shelter and
shoes to the homeless, and teaching daily living skills to adults with
disabilities. She is a member of the Itasca Chamber of Commerce.
