Glendale Heights – A charitable arm of the BAPS
Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Bartlett has pledged
a $15,000 donation over three years to Adventist GlenOaks
Hospital’s newly-built emergency
department. A cardiac treatment suite has been named in honor of BAPS
Charities, an international nonprofit social service charity.
“We are grateful to BAPS Charities for this gift,
which will directly impact patient care,” said Brinsley Lewis, CEO of Adventist
GlenOaks Hospital.
Added Karen Lawler, executive director of the
GlenOaks Hospital Foundation: “This gift also strengthens the hospital’s
partnership with this important community organization.”
Adventist
GlenOaks Hospital
has partnered with BAPS Charities for community events including health fairs
and screenings and for the distribution of diabetes supplies to needy patients
upon discharge.
The gift fits with BAPS Charities’ vision that
every individual deserves the right to a peaceful, dignified and healthy way of
life.
“GlenOaks is a hospital that doesn’t just talk
about community service but makes it happen,” said Dr. Paresh Patel, an
internal medicine specialist on staff at Adventist GlenOaks
Hospital and a member of
BAPS.
The gift will go toward the
GlenOaks Hospital Foundation’s $1.5 million capital campaign for the new
Emergency Department, which opened in 2007. Known as the Shanahan Emergency and
Trauma Center, the emergency department has a
unique concept – there is no waiting room. Upon arrival, patients are escorted
directly to a private treatment room where they are promptly treated. The $7
million facility includes 19 private, spacious treatment suites that consist of
primary exam suites, cardiac exam suites, trauma and pediatric suites as well
as psychological exam rooms. The private suites each have televisions,
telephones, internet access, natural light and nurse call buttons. There are
also separate family lounges to give family members the ability to remain
on-site while giving privacy to the patient and health care professionals.
