Bolingbrook – Nearly $1,800 was
raised for the Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation’s nursing scholarship during the
annual “Nurses for Tomorrow” Bike Run sponsored by Adventist Bolingbrook
Hospital last month. The 60-mile
ride, which took place Sept. 28, started at the hospital and ended at Buffalo Rock
State Park in Ottawa. It had to be re-routed from the
original destination – Starved Rock State Park
in Utica –
because areas of Starved Rock were closed due to heavy rains weeks earlier.
The event was a family affair for
Julie Grivetti, RN, clinical coordinator of the hospital’s post-anesthesia
care, same-day surgery and ambulatory care units. Grivetti and her husband, Bill,
who live in Marseilles,
rode a Harley Davidson Street Glide; their 25-year-old son and some of his
friends also participated. Grivetti said she plans to participate in the event
every year to support the Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation’s nursing
scholarship.
“If anybody knows that we need more nurses, it’s me,” the
13-year nurse said.
Derek Cazeau, executive director of
the Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation, expressed his appreciation to the bike run
participants: “Future nurses will benefit from the generosity demonstrated by
our community through this event.”
