In these patients angioplasty with stent placement may greatly improve or cure the high blood pressure and reduce the need for medicines.

The procedure is non surgical and is outpatient or "short stay."  Interventional radiologists are experienced in the performance of renal (kidney) artery angioplasty and stenting and are board certified to perform this procedure.
