Innovative Technology
Adventist Cardiovascular Network has some of the most innovative cardiovascular technology available, giving patients access to university-level care in a community hospital setting. These technology breakthroughs allow physicians to provide earlier diagnoses and interventions that can help keep you healthy and well.
The 64-slice CT scanner, now being used at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, gives a revoluntionary look at the heart. The image quality is very sharp and radiologists can look at moving structures, including the heart and blood vessels. Plus, it's quick -- an image of the heart takes only five seconds, and the entire body can be scanned in as little as 20 seconds.
The Adventist Cardiovascular Network includes a dedicated Electrophysiology lab to help patients experiencing arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rates. Many times a heart that beats too fast or too slow can be managed with medication or other treatments. Each year, physicians place more than 200 defibrillators and pacemakers in patients, giving them their freedom back to live a normal life.
Cardiac catheterization procedures are performed in two state-of-the-art laboratories located at Adventist Hinsdale and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospitals, which maintain 24-hour access, every day of the year for emergency cases.
