Cardiac Rehabilitation
Patients who have heart problems or are recovering from surgery can complete an individualized exercise program created by Adventist Cardiovascular Network experts. The network offers inpatient, outpatient and maintenance rehabilitation programs at several convenient locations.
You’ll work in collaboration with a team of medical specialists, including board-certified cardiologists, cardiac nurses, exercise physiologists and dieticians – all who are highly trained in the development of exercise programs and certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
As a Patient
Patients may begin a rehabilitation program while recovering from a heart attack, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, or angioplasty. Based in the hospital, under the care of your physician, cardiac nurses and exercise physiologists, this kind of rehabilitation focuses on progressive flexibility exercise and walking, with heart rate, blood pressure and heart monitoring.
Outpatient Services
After you are discharged from the hospital, your physician may prescribe a regular exercise program to continue your recovery. Exercise sessions are scheduled for one hour, three times a week. The program takes about 12 weeks to complete, depending on your progress. This service is available at several locations and is covered by most insurance programs.
Maintenance Programs
Adventist Cardiovascular Network offers a special cardiovascular maintenance program designed for graduates of the Outpatient program who are independent but still want some supervision during exercise. Consent from your physician is required. Maintenance programs are typically not covered by most insurance plans.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
A diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease can be frightening, but you don't have to face it alone. Adventist Cardiovascular Network's Pulmonary Rehabilitation program provides a caring place to get help in learning to control and reduce symptoms and complications.
